Alva’s Nudisiri, A Spectacular Kannada Heritage Cultural Show enthralls the Dubai Kannada community

Dubai, 01 Febraury 2013: Over 80 student artistes from the Alva’s Education Foundation from Moodbidri, Karnataka, India presented a spectacular heritage cultural festival here on Thursday Night.

 

The magnificent show was organized by the nationally acclaimed Alva’s Virasat & Nudisiri at the Al Nasr Leisure land Ice Rink was truly an amazing show and first of its kind in U.A.E had the audience spell bound at the performance of young students.

 

The supper show was inaugurated by Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty (MD NMC Group) along with Dr. Mohan Alva, founder of Alva’s Education Foundation Moodbidri with lighting of traditional lamp. Dr. B.R. Shetty spoke on the occasion and praised Dr. Mohan Alva for his dedication to education and various community services including enrichment of Kannada Heritage, culture, traditions and wished him all the best in his ventures such as creation of Nudisiri, Virasat - a conference on Kannada Language, Literature and Heritage and his many other achievements under his leadership.

 

 

In response, Dr.Mohan Alva thanked Dr. B.R. Shetty for his unconditional support and gave a brief intro on Alva’s Education Foundation he has initiated i.e. Alvas Nudisir which began in 2004. It is a National Conference on Kannada Land and Language and Cultural Heritage and Alva’s Virasat a National Cultural Meet which was founded in the year 1994. He further said that Alva’s Education Foundation had successfully completed the 9th Nudisiri conference just now i.e.16-18th November 2012. This unique, innovative Nudisiri conference at Moodbidri has attracted Kannada people from all over India and even from outside.  It has created a new culture of Unification of Kannada people from all the sections and walks of life.

 

Decennial Nudisiri as ’Vishwa Nudisiri’ a ’World Kannada Conference’ and ‘Vishwa Virasath’ Cultural meet is scheduled next year from 19th to 22nd December 2013 at Moodbidri. As part of Vishwa Nudisiri, units (Ghataka) will be set up in Gulf Countries like Dubai, Muscat, Bahrain etc to spread Kannada language and its cultural heritage where more number of Kannada lovers exists. He also thanked all Kannadigas for their unconditional support to complete these projects and especially to organize cultural programs in U.A.E. Dubai and Abu Dhabi which will be held on Friday the 1st February 2013 i.e. today.

 

On the occasion all the sponsors, well wishers, supporters were felicitated with mementos (Yakshyagan Kirita). The entire stage program was conducted by a well known kannadiga and community leader in U.A.E. Mr. Sarvotham Shetty, President, Abu Dhabi Karnatak a Sangha.

 

All the student artists were flown from Indian especially for the grand event. These extra-ordinary students captivated the audience with loads of variety entertainment, such as variety of classical and folk dances namely; Navadhurge Bharatnatyam, Mohiniyattam, Rajastani Folk dance and Manipuri stick dance.  The highlight of the events were a short drama titled: Dev Vaidyaru directed by Jeevan Ram Sulya and  a memorable Yakshagana titled “Sriranga Viabhava” was beautifully presented and applauded by the audience.

 

The well known Vilas Nayak, a genius painter/artist who recently participated in India got talents drew pictures of Yakshagana figure from Ramayana Epic story “ Rawana “, Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty and legend cricketer Sachin Tendulkar which were wonderfully painted and he received a huge round of applause from the audiance. These painting were then auctioned and one must appreciate the response to these paintings that these painting were auctioned for much more than expected amount i.e. the “Yaksagana” a picture of Rawana went for Dhs. 7000 and painting on Kargil war memorial auctioned for Dhs. 10,000, while the painting of cricketer Sachin & NMC group Chairman Padmashree Dr. B.R. Shetty Painting fetched for Dhs. 5000/- each.

 

 

Prior to closing a few wonderful dances such as Purulia Lion dance, Lion dance from West Bengal, Katak a classical dance and  Hoye Hoye a Karnataka Janapada Nritya were performed.

 

It was indeed a most memorable and entertained program ever to be witnessed by U.A.E. Kannadigas over the years.  The same performance will also be performed in Abu Dhabi on Friday the 1st February 2013 and a large kannadigas are expected to attend this unique cultural show.
