Udupi: Rotaract - Subash Nagar cultivates paddy to donate for Orphanages

Udupi,  7 Aug 2014 : Rotaract district speaker Parkala Manjunat Upadhyaya and Rotaract district representative Razak Kabakakars offered motion for planting rice saplings by Rotaract Club, Subash Nagar, near here on Wednesday August 6.

 

Rotaract Club has been donating the rice by cultivating paddy in a farmland that is donated by an elder of Kurkalu, here while the harvest they donate to orphanages and special schools since last monsoon season. It was the second year that the saplings were planted.  The rice was donated to Vishwasadamane – orphanage and rehabilitation center, Shankarapura and Aims for Service Organization, Bantakal, near here and also CSI Girls’ Orphanage. 

 

 

The local women also labored to plant the saplings, while senior teacher and farmer Mohandas R Shetty offered guidance.

 

Kurkalu gram panchayat president Bhuvanesh Poojary, Rotary Club International (RCI) – Shankarapura president Jerome Rodrigues, Rotaract coastal representative Jayaraj, Canara representative Santosh Kumar, district secretaries Chandra Poojary and Harish Adyar, former DRR Sumit Kinnigoli, Inner Wheel president Monica, Subash Nagar auto rickshaw owners and drivers Association president Balakrishna were present on the occasion.  

 

Rotaract president Sumalata welcomed the gathering.  The speaker Victor Vaz, RCI secretary Clifford D’Mello and members were also present.
