On this night a year ago, only an hour before he left home to take the ill-fated flight, a 16-yr old sent a Farm-ville gift to me. I woke up to watch the horrific scenes on TV and to find him among the list of passengers. For months, I kept visiting his Facebook profile and his Farm to wonder that life will not be same again. Closure is more important for human beings, for close relatives, friends and even general public. It is more than money; some victims have left behind property and cash worth crores without clear legal heirs. Reports of court battles among claimants are not known, but, the inability to establish title as legal heir may be one of the reasons for delays in settling compensations.

This news shows that women are as capable of committing crimes and indulging in road rage as men do. There should be no special consideration for women in an equal society. However, our conservative society is yet to wake up to the fact that women have changed enormously and our society still believes that women are incapable of committing mistakes and crimes. This same attitude reflects in the way laws are drafted and social attitudes towards men. Laws are all pro-women and anti-male. In this instant case, when the actress was allegedly beating up and abusing the cops in front of the public, the public just stood by watching the scene. Had it been a case of men beating and abusing a lady cop, imagine what would be the reaction of the public! They would have finished the beaters! Secondly, if a man uses unparliamentary words or objectionable words against a woman, he can be sued under various sections of the IPC including insulting the modesty of a woman and outraging the modesty of a woman. But what happens when a woman or a group of women outrage and insult men with the same intent? Why are the laws biased? Where is the gender equality? Do women alone have modesty?

All that is welcome- the sentiments expressed, the memorial to be created etc are secondary. The primary responsibility is to settle the legitimate compensation as per the international norms-Montreal covention as incorporated in Carriage by AIR Act, 1972, as amended 2009 in which the terms and quantum of minimum compensation is guaranteed. M/s Mulla and Mulla are not following this law strictly. They are twisting the matter and delaying, which is to be protested by all public who really want some thing is to be done to the berieved families. One year is over yet more than 50% of the claimants are look for the relief.
The case in the Kerala High Court is pending. It has not stayed settlement as per the Law. For want of precedents perhaps the decision is pending. BUt the International decision which is adopted by the Indian parliament is to be respected by all.

Fearing a coup, she declared Emergency and cling to her chair. Moralists maintain that she should have resigned, though legally and politically there was no reason to do that. The SC appeal was yet to be filed.
Fast forward to BSY. The factional politics reduced him to a minority in Oct 2010; however, a simple majority was proved in a process the legitimacy of which is challenged in courts. The opposition has a right to demand his ouster. The gov has a right to recommend dismissal. Our CM\ s political management of his opponents and building a \ massive majority within six months\ is a sophisticated undermining of the constitution, akin to the crude suspension of i by IG in 1975.

This is politics, where there are only situations, not friends or enemies. Ordinary folks color the situations with emotions and view them in black and white. In my view that CM and Gov break bread together, despite having different constitutional points of view\ is a sign of maturity.

I wish his excellency the Gav of Karnataka vacates his chair if the recomendations are not honoured by the Ruling Central babus. The C.M. and the MLAs in karnataka and Many ministers and king makers of UPA/congress are of identical characters I suppose and that is how they do not take a bold steps. If the assembly is dissolved on the report of the Gav, the BSY company will go to S.c. and Sr.Bommayi verdict will be followed and it will take 4-5 years. Therefore the GAv s opinion will be beneficial to make a mess out of the mess. Alternatively quitting of Gav will show his strong protest and he can relax here after, free from the nonse dramas. The offcer is in no way help the citizen of the state. I had said that the view of the Gav is not of the law pundits.

One of articles has the equation to calcuate the commodity value of petrol and various levies and taxes. It is my view that customs levy on crude and excise tax on refineries should be removed, ex-refinery price should be indexed to crude basket price, (brent or Texas), and ONE BUMPER tax should be collected from the distributor at his loading terminal, and then let the distributor fix retail price at pumps. Deregulate distribution and let distributors compete and reduce pump prices at the cost of their margin.
The BUMPER TAX should ONLY go to fund construction of new highways and roads of inernational standards and not to any government administrativeexpenses..
