What do you people mean by why this kolaveri ? You mean this is not a news worth ? or this is not an issue ? I agree with Mr. Benedict Noronha, news is new, and it is news b cs Mr. Bhat is a MLA, I also agree that it is purly his private life. But still MLA is a rep of people, shd have some moral responsibilities. Let him maintain his pvt life in his home (no one want to record that), not in hotels with callgirls.

To my all readers who left me messages: Yes, what I presented is one facet of an ice-burg named
black money. As I have written crooks among politicians, businessmen, professionals and industrialists and generally rich are smarter than rest of us. They have both sharper brains and faster buttons than the law-abiding people. Of course, tax havens are born even as old lose charm. Hot money flies around faster than the speed of light. Those residing in Middle East, where tax rates are very low, and entry of investing is very easy, know it is not only petrodollar surpluses, but foreign money that build and sustain the economies. A week-long trip to Mauritius, one can come face to face with such investors in five star resorts.
There are three other facets related, on which I will write my sequels for BV in future.

Philip Mudartha, Qatar
30/03/2013 10:45:34

The book is priced at 421.50 plus shipping on Amazon. It is not yet on Kindle.
I would like the opportunity to review it for BV someday, when used ones are available.

"Corruption has become a way of life. As long as Indian psyche is not transformed, no law or Lokayukta can halt this menace. If only the money set aside for development had been utilized for the said purpose, India would have been among the most developed countries of the world. Corruption is the deadliest devil in development". Well said Fr Swebert! Those who want to be non-corrupt are frustrated because they cannot swim against the current. Ultimately, every one will be or forced to be corrupt.

Dear Readers, for some peoples mistake do not attack on whole party. Not every leader in BJP is bad , there are good leaders also like Mr. Vajpayee, Mr. Modi . Similarly Not every leader in Congress is good , there are bad leaders also. So while commenting please take care of these facts, so that one party can not get easy benefit from it.

If you were resigned immedietly after P. Priya s murder, that was easy to fool the public. But now people know everything

Yes, why this kolaveri? Since when is it illegal for a widower to have consensual sex with an adult woman? If the woman is married, she commits adultery, which is an offense only if her husband files a FIR. If the woman is a minor girl, (below 18 yrs)and single, then she has been raped; rape too is cognizable after a FIR by her parents/guardians.
So, the honorable MLA should not pay attention to false sex CD. He is sure it is not him in the CD. Probe takes years, as ghost of late Padmapriya knows. Just contest elections as an independent because Kalladka Bhat and his disciples will not agree to allow you a BJP ticket. According to Indian norms, if you win elections, sau gunah maaf! Ask Narendra Modi!

Bharathi, Brahmavar

It is more a rich-poor divide than South-north or literate-illiterate. Of course, the obverse that generally the literate in the south are richer because they have a smaller family.
The Udupi district-in-charge minister, as soon as he was made a minster, said high population growth is a big problem. That showed how our leaders are unaware of ground reality in basic population issues. Our region with lowest rate should be prepared to shut most primary schools within a five years, or be prepared for converting them into low-cost residential boarding schools for urban kids, who cannot afford to find schools in big cities.

He may hide his guilt but he may have to prove it and I don t think it is very easy as every politician says I am not guilty until they are proven guilty and punished. Murder of wife is still a mystery and many still point fingers at him though it is not proven but for how is the main question???

What ever be it, News is news and Mr Bhat has denied it. Mr Renukaacharya BJP MLA had real affairs with a nurse and the matter was with the Police. Was it false? Today the News is Mr Renukacharya has been thorwn out of the party. Many a times the MLAs act in such a way that spoil the image of the Political ( national) Partythey belong, which should be decried by every one.

Benedict Noronha, Udupi

Most effective theme for the time. Mr Montiro has said million words in few photographs.
But unfortunately in our churches all these are mere acts carrying anger pride, jealousy and partisan outlook and performing these ceremonies. I have a few examples (complaints came to me) which testify that our religious leaders do it without true meaning, as a ritual only.
The message of Mr Monterio is great and it is to be emulated by the christian faithful. Jesus is living.

Philip Mudartha, Qatar

I request BV to reproduce homilies and messages of Pope Francis to the faithful and the world. They are among the finest speeches made and free to publish.
Can you imagine the background of washing the feet of disciples? They were fighting among themselves about who is superior, who is more important, and who is loved most by the Teacher. Peter even wanted to advise Jesus, and control others.
Repeating the act without genuine humility to give up control on everyone and everything is just a gesture. That is the core message let each one of us during this Holy Week embrace

Such a talented cricketer! Jesse Ryder s troubled upbringing and weight issues have been well documented, his image as a bit of a wild-boy didn t help the explosive opening batsman of Delhi Daredevils and he s a useful occasional medium-pacer as well. Full of talent, yet lack of discipline. Cricket and more so NZ need talent and characters like you. I love watching you bat and you are an immense talent, but Ryder's personal issues have always hampered him to become the player he can be. Get well soon Ryder!

So sad that Cricket, the most famous game in India is being politicized! Mixing politics with sport is insane. It is sad that sport and sportsperson who are supposedly brand ambassadors for their respective countries. This is the Heights of dirty politics played by TN politicians. They should have moved all the matches being played out in Chennai to some other cities. When the Home Ministry did not guarantee security for IPL Players, IPL was shifted to South Africa. We all still watched and IPL still survived. Now if Tamil Nadu can’t provide security, that s fine. No one wants to hurt sentiments or players and that is understandable. But what I don t understand is why not shift IPL matches out of Chennai? I will still watch them on TV and that is my sentiment. But I guess money plays a bigger role than sentiments!

Increasing vehicles and traffic is a big concern in Udupi city. There are signal poles (I don't know if there are any bulbs inside or not?) but none of them are working except one near Diana circle even that is also sometimes do not work. Second major problem what Udupi is facing is that Parking. There are hardly parking spaces in Udupi and district committee need to seriously pan and construct some parking building in the city.

Dear Philip, are our politicians and businessmen who have Swiss banks accounts are not aware of European finance crisis ? There are many tax heavens in the world and the money can be shifted easily to other places. I am sure Indian politicians and others who hold such accounts are smart enough to predict doomsday in a dynamic economic world.

Dear Monthu, it is very easy to throw stone while standing in the dark. What is your contribution to the church and the society/community. I am sure you are regular visitor to the church compound, have you ever tried to keep the compound clean especiaaly surroundings of the grotto.
So first of fullfil your duties as a responsible member of the church and then point ur finger at others. If you doesnot know to appreciate the good works done by responsible people, better to keep quiet.

A thought-provoking article indeed, that is written with depth of knowledge and volatile situation of tax heavens in Europe. If at all a sensible people's leader reads; he / she will realize that the money and wealth amassed will be like gold hidden in earthen walls by our ancestors that is lost forever since several centuries in India. I look forward to more enlightening articles from Mr Philip!

The need of the hour is to bring back this black money to India. I heard that the total black money in Swiss banks is more than our countries GDP. What needed today is the POLITICAL WILL. But how these same politicians whose money is stacked in Swiss banks and the same politicians who are the root cause of all corruptions will take such bold steps. There is no party in India who can take such a action as all are corrupt. Be it Congress, BJP or any other party, all are same and shameless. Unless the whole political system changes, there is no any hope on this front.

But I personally feel we all have a good news. The Aam Aadmi Party headed by Aravind Kejrival is different from others and their actions for the past one year gives us a lot of hopes. Young generation need to support this party so that corruption and black money issues can be controlled to a large extent. Are we ready for change ?
