Mangalore: Konkani Academy seeks Mangalore University to begin Konkani Dept

Mangalore, 8 Jun 2014: Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy president Roy Castelino met Mangalore University new vice chancellor Dr K Bairappa, here on Saturday June 7, and presented a memorandum to the latter on opening Konkani department.
 
 
Dr Bairappa in reply to the memorandum said that Mangalore University will positively respond to begin Konkani department that would help Konkani department to focus on research and studies on the literature, cultural hierarchy, about the authors and their books etc.  It would also helpful in organizing both national and international symposiums on Konkani and further get boost to Konkani.   

 

 
 
 
Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy registrar Dr Devdas Pai, Mangalore University Professor P S Yadapadittaya, Academy member Lawrence D’Souza, Konkani Prachar Sanchalan secretary Vitori Karkal were present on the occasion.
