Union minister Gopinath Munde dies in road accident in Delhi

New Delhi, 03 Jun 2014: Union rural development minister Gopinath Munde has passed away, after meeting with an accident while his convoy was on its way to the Delhi airport.

 

The accident happened when Munde was on his way to the Indira Gandhi International Airport to fly to Mumbai. Munde had a victory rally scheduled in Beed and Parali in Maharashtra.

 

 

The accident happened at Aurobindo Marg in south Delhi, police said.

 

Speaking to media, BJP leader Nitin Gadkari said that Munde had died around 8am in the morning.

 

Munde was a leader of opposition in the Maharashtra legislative assembly during 1992-1995 and has held the post of deputy chief minister of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999.
