Countdown begins for the greatest “Konkan Showers 2010”

Dubai, 28 September 2010: Curtains will rise at the popular venue - Al Nasr Leisureland on 14 October @8.30 PM - when St. Mary’s Konkan Community (SMKC) Dubai will present their 9th annual get together – “Konkan Showers 2010”.   Over the past years, SMKC has given the highest quality entertainment programs with innovative ideas, bringing in renowned artists from the Konkan world who have performed great musical nites in Dubai.

 

This year too, SMKC Dubai has drawn up a huge entertainment program.  “Konkan Showers 2010” is a gala musical evening chalked up with nostalgic songs from Eric Ozario and team of “Mandd Sobhann” fame. The stage will soon be set up on 14 October to take you down the memory lane of Konkani music of 1960 and 1970s, rekindling the sentiments and love for our culture and heritage.

 

 

 

As all know,  Eric Ozario has saved the heritage of our great Konkani culture and soon he will hold the First World-level Konkani Cultural Convention in Mangalore as a 25 days extravaganza in November/ December  2010 to mark the Silver  Jubilee of Konkani’s premier cultural organization, Mandd Sobhan, that had made all Konkani speaking people proud by placing the language on the world map by their remarkable and record-breaking feat of organizing the Konkani Nirantari program to enter the Guiness Book of World Records with its 40-hour-long non –stop-multi-singer music program.

 

  

 

It will be an awesome experience for the Konkani diaspora residing in U.A.E when Eric Ozario, the gurkar of Mandd Sobhan, with his team dish out enchanting Konkani numbers that will simply rock you in your seats.  This year’s nite will leave an everlasting impression in the hearts of all Konkani lovers!!

 

In addition, the great “Daiji Rang Manch” team will entertain the crowd with hilarious comedy and jokes that will tickle your bones. There will be spell bounding dances from the Ocean Kids who are performing in the UAE from the last 5-6 years and were introduced by SMKC Dubai for their first stage performance ever in Dubai.   

 

Arun Raj Rodrigues and Vaishali Rodgrigues of 105.1 FM will be compering the enchanting night. Lavish dinner will be laid down at the venue when the band will rock the floor with Konkani Baila and Hindi music until the wee hours of next morning.  Above all this entertainment, SMKC will give away gifts galore that include electronic items to air tickets.

 

Over the past nine years, SMKC Dubai has been able to shower love and care to many needy families in the U.A.E. as well as in India. Many deserving students have been able to fulfill their aspirations to continue professional and vocational studies.  Genuine needs of numerous low income families have been met with, through our charity funds throughout these years. All this was possible through the generous contributions from our sponsors and well wishers.

 

 

In continuation with SMKC Dubai goal and passion to reach out to the poor and needy of our community especially to educate young students who hail from very low income bracket, this year too, SMKC Dubai is marching ahead with its objective.
