UMK Celebrates Monti Fest In Kuwait

Kuwait, 13 September 2010: United Mangaloreans Kuwait (U.M.K.) celebrated the nativity feast (monti fest)on Saturday 11th Sept 2010 at a Salmiya Residence at 7pm. Gurkar of UMK Agnel Saldanha welcomed the gathering in few words on behalf of UMK & Compered the entire event. Lional Mascarenhas conducted the prayer(1 Kan terse) , ended with “ Sakkad sangatha melya” hymn, sung by all.

 

As UMK prepeares for the forthcoming mega event “fun Filled Evening 2010”, to be held in Kuwait on Oct 1st, 2010, prayers offered to Mother Mary, for the success of the programme.

 

 

The blessed new corn (Novem) was distributed to all, by Lucy Aranha and Avil Fernandes. A session of self- introduction held by all UMK members & guests, to know each other, more closely. Next, it was the turn to felicitate the UMK members and invitees for the grand get together. Mr. Albert Saldanha greeted elders (family members of UMK).

Sweet chocolates and cold drinks were distributed to children. Various games were conducted by Andrea, Joel and Nirmala. Guests, kids and adults, participated in all the games, which was totally fun-filled. Winners were awarded with the prizes. Prizes distribution conducted by Remi & Hilda Coutinho.

 

Gladys Lorena, Nirmala Machado (Gulf Voice of Mangalore 2010, Kuwait’s semi-finalists) and Kevin D’Souza enthralled the audience by their melodious songs. Kids and the youths danced to the tune of music by Ronald D’Souza. Grace before the meal lead by Edward D’Souza.

 

Traditional delicious homemade vegetarian meal, sponsored by the families/members of the UMK, served on the Shiroti (banana leaf). Potrade, lonchem, allu-dento curry, bhende, ghosale, sango, thousya korumb and vorn (payasam) were on the menu. The celebration relived the memories of back home, wherein families join in and have a meal together.

 

Once again, Agnel Saldanha whole heartedly appreciated and thanked the guests and all the members. who have taken part and dedicated their services for the successfull celebration of monthi fest.
