Udupi: Teachers play Key Role in Students Life – Fr Prakash Monteiro

Udupi, 8 Dec 2013: The students are greatly influenced from the behavior and character of teachers in their higher primary and high school studies. The teachers play key role in molding the students to become future responsible citizen, said Fr Antony Prakash Monteiro, campus director of St Philomena College, Puttur.
Fr Antony was the chief guests speaking during the annual day celebration of St Mary’s Pre-Univesity College, Shirva, near here on Saturday December 7. It was organized by Alma Mater of same college.
Fr Antony expressed deep concern over commercialization of education sphere in the country.
The Alma Mater felicitated retired principal Felix Andrade, the retired teacher Ratnakar Rao, and the renowned theater artiste Mervin Aranha Shirva on the same occasion.
St Mary’s Group of Education Institutions correspondent Fr Stany Tauro presided the function.
St Mary’s Pre-University College principal Ramesh Bhat, High School headmaster Devendra Nayak was present at the dais.
ZP member Ida Gilbert D’Souza, Shirva gram panchayat vice president Deepika Shalet D’Souza, veteran medical practitioner Dr N S Shetty Padoor, Rotary Club – Shirva president Leo Noronha were also present.
The Alma Mater president Simon D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Dr Gururaj and Arvin D’Souza introduced the guests. Sujanya S Achar rendered the prayers. Norbert Machado and Gilbert Pinto compered the programme. Alma Mater secretary Mathias Lobo proposed vote of thanks.
Nambuvara…Budpara..! Tulu comedy play was staged by the artistes of Vijaya Kalavidaru – Kinnigoli. The Alma Mater presented variety cultural shows, while renowned female artiste Mervin Aranha presented filmi-dances as part of entertainment programme.
