New Delhi: National Meet of RSETI Stakeholders for Recognition of Best Performers

New Delhi, Nov 22, 2013 : National meet of Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) stakeholders for recognition of best performers was held at Vigyan Bhavan, here on Thursday November 21, by the union Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), to commemorate the second anniversary of signing a historic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MoRD and National Academy of Rural Development and Self Employment Training Institute (RUDSETI).


 
The awards were given away in a glittering function by union MoRD minister Jairam Ramesh, in the presence of   Dr D Veerendra Heggade, honorary chairman of National Advisory Council for RSETIs, MoRD secretary L C Goyal, joint secretary T Vijay Kumar, Syndicate Bank CMD Sudhir Kumar Jain, and Canara Bank CMD R K Dubey and other top level officials.


 
Speaking on the occasion, the minister Jairam Ramesh said that RSETIs set up by different Banks will be successful only if the sponsor Banks take the programme as a part of their main activity and not under Corporate Social Responsibility. RSETIs set up by various Banks shall give more focus on developing infrastructure in all their RSETIs so that effective training can be provided to the unemployed youth, said minister Jairam. He further said that in order to take the RSETI movement forward, the banks should focus on a cluster of RSETIs which should be monitored by one RSETI director, wherein the individual RSETIs within the cluster may be guided suitably.

 


 
 
Sudhir Kumar Jain while elaborating on the Bankers’ emphasized on opening of RSETIs even at the taluk levels so that more number of unemployed youth get the benefit of training under various self employment activities. By doing so, he said that RSETIs can play a pivotal role in financial inclusion by providing need based training to the last person in the command area.


 
 
Dr D Veerendra Heggade, L C Goyal, T Vijay Kumar, along with Sudhir Kumar Jain, R K Dubey, released the annual activities report of monitoring cell, all India directory of RSETIs and ‘Yashopath’ compendium of success stories of entrepreneurs trained by various RSETIs.


 
Speaking on the occasion, Dr D Veerendra Heggade, expressed his happiness that RUDSETI which was started in a humble way back in 1982 has today become a flagship programme of MoRD. He hoped that the award ceremony conducted by MoRD will galvanize and motivate all the directors of RSETIs not only to perform better but also excel the original RUDSETIs. He urged upon the Banks to finance the needy and eligible RSETI trained candidates to set up their own ventures.


 
R K Dubey and L C Goyal spoke on the expectations of MoRD and the grading system adopted for rating RSETIs.


 
The chairman and managing directors of Vijaya Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Corporation Bank, managing director of State Bank of Patiala, general managers and other top executives of various Banks and all the state project co-ordinators of monitoring cell were also present on the occasion.


 
RSETIs chief project co-ordinator K N Janardhana, National Academy of RUDSETI director general H Somashekar, top performing Bankers and state governments and 233 directors of various RUDSETIs/RSETIs were awarded with trophies and certificates of excellence on the same occasion.


 
T Vijay Kumar welcomed the gathering. The monitoring cell chief project co-ordinator K N Janardhanl proposed vote of thanks.
