Devaloka double murder case: Court awards rigorous life imprisonment to Imam Hussein

Kasargod, 21 Nov 2013: Imam Hussein (53), accused in Devaloka double murder case has been sentenced to rigorous life imprisonment by Additional District and Sessions Court on Thursday, November 21.
On Tuesday, November 19, Hussein found guilty of murdering Sri Krishna Bhat (45) and his wife Srimathi (35), residents of Devaloka-Perla on October 9, 1993.
Judge Balan also ordered Hussein to pay penalty of Rs.1.5 lac to three sons of the deceased couple.
Imam Hussein from Jannathgalli in Sagar had fled with ornaments after murdering the couple. Sri Krishna Bhat was buried in the backyard of his house while his wife was stabbed to death inside the house. A black magician Hussein had convinced the couple there was hidden treasure in their backyard and had told them he was able to get it through black magic.
A case was registered at Badiyadka police station and later it was shifted to CID. Hussein who was on run for 19 years was finally arrested in Nelamangala near Bangalore on April 20, 2012.
The court had begun the trials on February 22 and had documented the statements of 39 out of the 68 witnesses. The couple’s three children Muralikrishna, Niranjan and Sudarshan and the family members were present during hearing.
