Dubai: JMJ Prayer Group celebrates Eighth Anniversary with Fellowship & Cultural Extravaganza

Dubai, 20 Nov 2013: Jesus Mary Joseph (JMJ), the largest Konkani Prayer Group in St Mary’s Church, here celebrated their eighth anniversary with variety of the entertainment programmes and fellowship at the main hall of St Mary’s church, here recently. 

 
 
 
The event was initiated with a short prayer and an introduction of event by the Group Advisor Lawrence D’Souza.

 
 
JMJ Group’s spiritual director Fr Frank Gomes was welcomed on the stage by the entire JMJ Core Team. 

 
 
JMJ main co-ordinator Jerina Lewis felicitated Fr Gomes with a flower bouquet.

 
 
Fr Frank in his brief message appreciated the prayer group’s efforts in bringing goodness to the people and advised to continue the good work.

 
 
The new core member Josly Pinto presented an elaborate annual report detailing the progress and activities of JMJ Group since the last annual day.  JMJ core member Roshan D’Souza proposed vote of thanks.

 
 
The much awaited cultural program began with a welcome dance ‘Tuje Charani’ enacted by talented tiny members of JMJ,   Hannah and Sara Mathias which was well  appreciated.

 
 
 
It was followed by many dance numbers by children of various age groups from Dubai’s well-renowned dance group ‘Ocean Kids’ which mesmerized the audience with their hidden talents and superb choreography. 

 

 
 
A skit on ‘Mobile’ was presented by members from the Camp area, led by Michael Sequiera with outstanding acting skills along with other talented friends.

 
 
Enthusiastic tiny singers Leonora DSouza sang Konkani song ‘Kotrunja’ and Catherine D’Costa sang English song ‘My heart will go on’ which captivated the audience with their cuteness and beautiful crooning.

 
 
Excellent dance numbers by other young members Vinette Vivett, Princy, Joylin, Lavita Crasta and Eva added extra entertainment and zest to the event.

 
 
Between each dance numbers and songs, lots of prizes were distributed for lucky coupon draw winners.

 
 
Well known singer of  Dubai and JMJ member Lancy Noronha and his team entertained the crowd by fabulously acting out Konkani comedy  skits ‘Vokilab’ and ‘Police Station’. Grand finale was from teen members Lanita Noronha and Jesney Lewis who performed a unique dance number ‘Modern Love Story’.

 
 
The core member Francis Menezes rendered warm welcome to Fr Frank, distinguished guests and other dignitaries.  JMJ Advisor Lawrence DSouza compered the programme.

 
 
A scrumptious dinner sponsored by Canara Restaurant owned by Leo D’Souza was served to over 600 people.

 
 
Like every year, JMJ Konkani Prayer Group continues to organize variety  programmes with great zeal and enthusiasm  by arranging grand cultural programs and fellowship to its members, thus providing them memorable events along with every week’s spiritual activities.

 
 
JMJ Prayer Group encourage Konkani speaking people reside in Dubai as well as off Dubai city limits like in various camps to lead active Christian life, by providing free transport to attend weekly obligatory mass on Fridays in the evenings and thereafter to the prayers in the main hall. During every Friday prayer gatherings, adoration and the charismatic prayer service in Konkani are being held.
