Doha: S P Balasubramaniam presents Melodious Singing during Karnataka Sangh Qatar Rajyotsav

Doha/Qatar, 18 Nov 2013: Karnataka Sangh Qatar (KSQ), a premier socio-cultural organization of Kannadiga expatriates working in State of Qatar celebrated ’Karnataka Rajyotsava’ at the Delhi Public School (DPS) auditorium, Al Wakrah, to the packed audiences here on Friday November 15. It was sponsored by Doha Bank.
The much-awaited musical concert by S P Balasubramaniam and his troupe was the highlight of the celebration. The renowned singer enchanted the crowd with old and new Kannada songs, transpiring the music-buff to another world.
S P Balasubramaniam was honored by the KSQ president with a memento.
KSQ president along with other dignitaries and executive Committee members inaugurated the programme here on Friday evening.
Karnataka Sangh along with other Tulu – Kannadiga Associations in Qatar staged variety cultural shows during Karnataka Rajyotsav celebrations.
Tulu Koota performed a skit, while MCC members presented dance to sandalwood hit number. Bunts Qatar and Billawa Sangh mesmerized the audiences with dance recitals. The icing on the cake was the performance by Karnataka Sangh members where they showcased the rich heritage of Karnataka by giving glimpses of various historical events through dances.
Indian Embassy chancellor Sunil Tapliyal, well known poet B R Laxman Rao, ICC president Tarun Basu, KSQ president Deepak Shetty, vice president Nagesh Rao, general secretary Mahesh Gowda were present on the dais.
Kannada Sangh Bahrain president Rajkumar and Kannada Sangh Muscat president Anil Basagi were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Tapliyal said, ‘Kannada resides in the heart of all Kannadigas and one should appreciate when you see Rajyotsava celebrated with togetherness,’ said Sunil. He thanked the Kannadigas residing in Qatar for their contribution in sustaining Kannada and its cultural hierarchy in the distant land.
‘Kannada Samman’ Award was conferred on poet B R Laxman Rao on the occasion.
Laxman in acknowledgment of honor said, ‘I am thankful to Karnataka Sangh Qatar for giving me this award. All Kannadigas must come together for the betterment of Karnataka no matter where they reside,’ said Laxman.
A souvenir commemorating the celebrations was released on the same occasion.
Bunts Qatar president and philanthropist, office bearers of MCC, Tulu Koota, Billawa Sangh, KMCA and KSQ were also present on the occasion.
More than a thousand people witnessed the show and all were served with the snacks by KSQ.
Al Muftah Contracting Company, Structural Qatar WLL and Alma Aluminum and Steel Company were the event partners with Media Plus as the event manager.
KSQ president Deepak Shetty welcomed the gathering and thanked all associations and sponsors for their contribution and for making the memorable evening possible.
Dr Kumar compered the programme. Mahesh Gowda presented the annual report. The cultural secretary Madhu H K proposed vote of thanks.
