M’lore: After milk govt. all set to distribute biscuits to the kids

Mangalore, 06 Nov 2013: “Pusthi Ayurvedic Biscuit will be distributed to children below five years by the Ayush department. These biscuits will build immunity; improve digestion and concentration among children. These biscuits will also help in combating malnutrition. These biscuits which will be manufactured  soon and provided to children in all anganwadis located in a Taluk which is facing the problem of malnutrition. The scheme which will be launched on pilot basis will soon be launched in other Taluks as well based on the results,”said U.T.Khadar, minister for health and family welfare.

 

 

“The samples of the biscuits have been tested and the name of the Taluk where the biscuits where it will be distributed will be announced soon. Necesary licences have been obtained for manufacturing of the biscuits and stock to suffice distribution at all anganwadis at the shortlisted Taluk is also ready, ”he added.

 

"The funds for the scheme has been utilized from National Rural Health Mission,"he informed.

 

Free  mobile phones to ASHA workers

Addressing the press persons on Wednesday,November 6  Khadar said “all 35,000 ASHA workers will be given free mobiles and SIMs. The handsets which will work on the basis of Closed User Group  will improve communication and co-ordination between the ASHA workers .This will also ensure that official from the Department and Secretariat will reach out to all workers at the same time."

 

“The Central Government has stopped the scheme of giving Rs 200 TA to the Asha volunteers, so the State Government is mulling to provide the same to the volunteers.” he added.

 

“The State Government has already implemented Arogyashree scheme under which 1 Asha volunteer  to every 1,000 people. Incentive of Rs. 200 will be given to Asha volunteer if he/she admits patients to the hospital. Rs 300 incentive will be given if it is a SC/ST patient.” Khadar said.

 

Integrated medicine Department

“An integrated medicine Department will be set up in Primary Health Centre (PHC) of every Taluk in the District. This integrated medicine department will provide treatment in Unani, Ayurvedic, Naturopathy and Allopathy.”Khadar said. “This scheme of setting up of intergrated medicine department will be implemented soon,” he added.

 

Wenlock hospital to be computerized

“Wenlock hospital’s database will be totally computerized. This will enable to save all the information related to the patients systematically.”Khadar said.

 

Salary of doctors at PHCs to be in par with medical colleges

“Ninety per cent of the PHCs in the State Government have doctors. The  Health Department will very soon appoint doctors in the PHCs which don’t have doctors. Steps will also be taken to ensure that the salary will be made on par with medical colleges in order to attract more doctors. We are also ready to pay doctors on Contract/Time and Case basis.”Khadar informed.
