Mangalore: DK District Celebrates Fifty-Eighth Kannada Rajyotsav in Grandeur

Mangalore, 01 Nov 2013: Dakshina Kannada (DK) district administration organized Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations with a colorful procession of Karnataka patroness goddess Bhuvaneshwar from Dr B R Ambedkar roundabout up till Nehru maidan where the mega event was held on Friday November 1 morning.

 

The Kannada Rajyotsava programme began with Karnataka state anthem, while DK district-in-charge minister Ramanat Rai hoisted the Karnataka flag and accepted the guard of honor from district police force.

 

The minister Ramanath in his Kannada Rajyotsava message highlighted various developmental projects implemented for the progress of DK district.

 

He further said, ‘Despite Kannada being the administrative state language, there are many other languages spoken in the state like Tulu, Konkani, Kodava and Lambani; even Tamil, Malayalam, Marathi and Telugu are prevalent in the state. The state is contributing to the development of all the languages,’ said minister Ramanat.

 

Briefing on the projects, Rai said that the government has taken all measures to promote Kannada in the district. ‘Now it is the duty of every individual to implement Kannada language in cent percent. The state government will not compromise in providing quality education to the Kannada medium students. Our aim is to build a progressive State and the government has already implemented people friendly projects, especially for welfare and education,’ said minister Ramanat.

 

‘Earlier our government had introduced mid-day meal scheme and most of the states have benefited from the scheme. Now the government has introduced ’Ksheera Bhagya’ scheme under which more than 1.2 crore children from 1st to 10th standard are getting 150ml milk thrice a week. This is first of its kind in the country,’ said minister Ramanat.

 

 

The minister Ramanat urged to use Kannada in Information Technology, to popularize the Unicode software. ‘The government will approve Rs 50 lac to build Rastra Kavi Govinda Pai Hall in Manjeshwar, Rs 1 crore for Ratnakar Varni Study Centre at Mangalore University and Rs 5 crores will be approved  to develop Koti Chennaya’s birth place in Padumalai, Puttur,’ said minister Ramanat.

 

‘The government will also implement new scheme ’Manaswini’ for BPL spinsters and divorcees above 40 years and Rs 500 will given per month for the beneficiaries. To protect the sandalwood trees ’Siri Chandanavana’ will be built,’ said minister Ramanat.  He stressed on the need to build a strong state and for the welfare of the citizens, the government will take all the necessary measures and work for the development of the state, emphasized minister Ramanat.

 

MLA’s J R Lobo and Moideen Bava, DK district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, municipal commissioner Ajit Kumar, DC N Prakash, ADC Dayanand K A, IGP Pratap Reddy, city police commissioner Manish Karbikar and departmental officers were present on the occasion.

 

The minister Ramanat presented DK district Rajyostava awards to 20 distinguished personalities during the programme.

 

The students from different schools and colleges presented variety cultural shows at Town Hall, here on Friday evening.
