M’lore: Bendore Parish to organize Inter-Parish Cricket Tourney in City on Oct 27, Nov 3 and N

Mangalore, 24 Oct 2013 : St Sebastian parish, Bendore, will be organizing inter=parish cricket tournament for 21 parishes of city deanery on Sundays October 27, November 3 and November 10, to commemorate its centenary jubilee celebrations, with the aim to build a better rapport among the youth of various parishes and to develop the spirit of sportsmanship, said Bendore parish priest Fr Antony Serrao.
Addressing the media persons during the press meet here on Thursday October 24, Fr Serrao said that out of 21 parishes, 16 teams have already enrolled to compete in the tournament that will be played on knock-out basis. All the matches will be played at Padua High School grounds, Nantoor, here. The main sponsor of the tournament is NRI entrepreneur and philanthropist Errol John Samuel, said Fr Serrao.
The tournament will be inaugurated by Corporation Bank general manager Clement G Pinto who is the chief guest on Sunday October 27 at 9.30am.
The local corporator Naveen R D’Souza will be the guest of honor.
The valedictory and prize distribution function will be held on Sunday November 10 at 5.00pm.
Errol John Samul will be the chief guest of the occasion.
KMC Professor of medicine Dr Christopher C Pais will be the guest of honor.
The first prize will be cash award of Rs 55,555 and second prize will be Rs 44,444 and trophies each. Man of the match, man of the series, best batsman, best bowler will get a cash award of Rs 2,500 each and trophies.
Bendore parish council vice president Ronald Francis Walder, sports secretary Christopher C M D’Souza, Committee members Professor Rolphy Mascarenhas and Rajesh D’Souza were present at the press meet.
