Mangalore: Olympus – 2013 Cultural Fest at Father Muller Medical College

Mangalore, Oct 24, 2013 : Monday October 21 was a day of hustle, a day of excitement, dance and much more in the Father Muller Medical College (FMMC) campus, because Monday was the premier day of the FMMC annual inter-batch cultural fest ‘Olympus’, battle of the gods.
The inauguration of the fest took place in a formal function in the Academy Hall at 4.30 pm with a prayer song.
The function was graced by the presence of Matharani Mathais, the chief guest and other dignitaries Father Muller Charitable Institutions director Fr Patrick Rodrigues, Father Muller Medical College Hospital administrator Fr Richard Coelho, CMS Dr Sanjeev Rai, FMMC administrator Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa, dean Dr Jayaprakash Alva, staff in-charge Dr Tessa N Kaneria, student animator Vaishaka Shetty of the hosting batch 2010, staff and students.
The welcome note was delivered by Dr Jayaprakash Alva, following which was the inaugural of the fest.
This was followed by introduction of the chief guest by Neeti Luke followed by the chief guest’s light hearted address. This was followed by the dignitaries declaring the fest open.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Vaishaka Shetty.
At 5.30 pm, the first competition of Olympus, the thematic dance. ‘Nrithya Natya’ began in the Academy Hall. 4 teams participated and the winners were 1st place – MBBS Batch 2010, 2nd place – AHS and 3rd place – MBBS Batch 2008.
This was followed by the face painting competition at 7.00pm in the Academy Hall. 8 teams participated. There were 2 judges. The winners were 1st place – MBBS Batch 2011, 2nd place – AHS and 3rd place – MBBS Batch 2010.
This wrapped up Day 1 of Olympus’ seven-day cultural extravaganza which will conclude on Sunday October 27.
