Mumbai: Canara Konkani Association, Borivali (West) Convenes seventh AGM

Mumbai, 14 Oct 2013: The seventh annual general body meeting of metro-based Canara Konkani Association, Borivali (West), at St Francis MBA auditorium, here on Sunday October 13 at 5.30pm.
Model Co-operative Bank chairman and Aldel Educatin Trust chairman Albert W D’Souza presided the meeting.
Canara Konkani Association secretary Charles D’Cunha, treasurer Robert Tauro, head of educational aid Committee Godfrey Quadros, MBA College chairperson Br Alphonso were present on the dais.
The vice chairman George D’Souza was absent due to unavoidable circumstances.
The annual report of the Association for the Year 2012-13, the minutes of the previous annual general meeting held in October 2012 and the audited annual accounts for the Year 2012-13 were unanimously approved by the members.
The main objective of the Association is to reach out to poorest students with their educational needs. Nine students who were aided by the Association for their educational needs were introduced to the members. The students in turn expressed their gratitude to the association.
Speaking on the occasion, Albert W D’Souza briefed the members about the various educational facilities available at St Francis institute, which is in the vicinity to take advantage of the minority quota available to educate their children.
As the part of annual cultural programme, Konkani drama, ‘Estel Konachi Vokal,’ a social comedy play by playwright and director Joseph D’Souza will be staged by the Association at Prabhodhan Thackeray hall, Borivali (West) here on Sunday November 3.
Kelvin Joshua Fernandes, a resident of IC colony, who secured second rank in CA final exam held in May 2013, was felicitated with cash award of Rs 5,000 by Albert D’Souza and Bro Alphonso, chairman of MBA College.
For the benefit of members, an awareness talk (symptoms, care and precaution) on diabetics presented by Dr Dakshata Padhye, a diabetic specialist.
Lucy Aranha compered the programme. Charles D’Cunha proposed vote of thanks.
A sumptuous dinner that was sponsored by a well wisher was served by the Express Caterers after the programme.
