Mangalore, 28 Sep 2013: There lie whispers of motherly love…trusting sight…hope for the future… ‘I was eligible for state benefits but that has been denied since a few years. Would you help me,’ says an elderly women with tears but with determined hope. Its not exaggeration…instead conveyed fondly.
These are the heart-rending scene found among the elderly in the most remote villages of Yenmoor, Panja, Bellare, Kervashe, Edu, which are reassuring indeed. It’s the programme known as ‘Grama Vatsalya’
Its not the movie shot on CM’s homestay in a remote village, instead a responsible media explored an innovative programme with the concern for rural folks and their prosperity. Karnataka’s first Kannada HD channel, Spandana Vahini, set for shooting ‘Grama Vatsalya’ programme with focus on rural life.
It’s the programme well supported by Spandana TV channel chairman Vilas Nayak who has determined to listen to the grievances of rural folks by personally visiting their homes and take appropriate actions in availing the state benefits. He wanted to give new hope to rural folks and found success in it too.
Gramavatsalya
Yes. It’s the new concept…It’s the new method adapted by media in true sense. They are committed to go to remote villages, listen to their difficulties and convey their grievances to the reigning government in addressing them.
Spandana Vahini has open up the innovation to let the rural folks know about the growth in civil society. The programme aims at reaching out to rural folks all the state benefits that were un-availed owing to lack of information, lethargy of government officials and negligence of elected representatives. The Spandana crew will mix with the villagers, to provide them information on different benefits meant for rural folks, to supply them with applications and its being done with true concern of rural folks.
Objectives of Gramavatsalya
India is a developing nation in the world; wherein villages form greater part of the country. It has large farm holdings, while the farmers are the backbone of the nation. It’s a mirage struggle for the rural folks to get state benefits. The basic information of state benefits are not readily available to the rural masses. Meanwhile, Grama Vatsalya programme aims at giving clear picture of state programmes to the rural masses in order to lead self reliant living.
Sample of Grama Vatsalya programme
There lies a remotest village, whereby Spandana crew fixes a date to provide integral information of state programmes. The rural folks are informed in advance in this regard. The crew sets out to the village on that date and time, who are accompanied by elected representatives and concerned department officers. The team will have all the info about state programmes related to that village. The team will be busy from sunrise till the sunset responding to the grievances of rural folks. The gathering of info about rural folks, discussions, interactive meet will be held during the mornings, while the officers and elected representatives confront the various issues of rural folks in the afternoons. The entertainment programmes are being held in the evenings.
Its not over yet…Spandana’s Grama Vatsalya programme does not conclude there, instead a new beginning opens. All the shots are edited in the office in order to relay the programme live to the viewers in the assigned time slot. It will submit the entire programme in a CD to the government and follows up regularly. It will not give up till all the grievances are addressed by the state authorities. Similarly, the crew does the same with next village. It’s an effort to strive for nation building beyond caste, creed, religion and politics.
For stable society
The media has created a concept of Grama Vatsalya, with the true concern of rural folks that they should be empowered to live modest living. It’s our honest effort in this regard and we have support from rural folks. It’s the greatest satisfaction for us.
