M’lore: World Tourism Day Celebrated at University College, Ravindra Kala Mantap

Mangalore,28 Sep 2013: At the aegis of district tourism department and Dakshina Kannada district administration, World Tourism Day was celebrated at Ravindra Kala Mantap, University College, here on Friday September 27.
Dakshina Kannada (DK) DC N Prakash inaugurated the programme here on Friday morning.
Speaking on the occasion, DC Prakash said that DK district has plentiful scope for tourism development. Meanwhile, the state tourism minister V R Deshpande gathered in-depth info on the potential of tourism in the coastal district and plans are underway to develop many tourism spots in DK, Udupi and Uttar Kannada districts into tourists hot spots, said DC Prakash.
DC Prakash further said that the potentials of tourism will be developed in undivided DK at par with Kerala and Goa, while the state government is in the process of drawing a blue print in this regard, said DC Prakash.
The journalist Manohar Prasad delivered a talk on Tourism and water: protecting our common future.
The University College principal Ammal Kutty presided the function.
Panamboor Beach Development Committee CEO Yatish Baikampady, tourism department officer Chikkamatur, Nirmal Travels chief Nirmala Kamat, KCCI member Vatika Kamat, University College tourism department chief D P Angady, tourism department assistant director U Jitendranat were present on the occasion.
