’Konkan Taram – Jerimeri’ Celebrated 22nd Annual Day with Monti Fest

Mumbai, 14 Sep 2013: "Konkan Taram (Jerimeri)" the Konkani Association of St. Jude Church Jerimeri Mumbai, Celebrated 22nd Annual Day combined with Nativity Feast ( in Mangalore Tradition ) on Thursday the 12th September 2013 at 7.30p.m.

 

The association "KONKAN TARAM - JERIMERI" was formed for Social, Cultural and Liturgical activities in the year 1991 under the leadership of Fr. Paul Rego, strongly supported by Norbert Sequeira, John Mascarenhas and Wilson Pinto and this is the consecutive 22nd traditional Monti Fest celebration at Jerimeri Mumbai.

 

 

Little Children and teen agers offered flowers to Mother Mary with traditional beautiful hymns ... ‘Sokkod Sangatha Melliam and Moriek Hogollsiam’. New Corns (Novem) were blessed and Solemn High Mass was Celebrated by  Fr. Cyril D’Souza (Bandra) Director of  “Bandra Community Centre” concelebrated by  Fr. Nelson Saldanha,- Parish Priest of St. Jude Church.  Enthusiastic parishioners participated in large number with their children.  John Mascarenhas and Choir Group presented a melodious singing and music with newly composed Hymns for Mother Mary.

 

Eventhough the Teen agers are born and brought up at Mumbai with English medium education, but still all readings and prayers of faithful in konkani language were read by these Mumbai educated teen age girls, that reminded the traditional Mangalorean-style of Monti Fest Celebration.  Amazingly all of them read the readings and prayers in Konkani very fluently and meaningfully.

 

Blessed corns, Snacks, sweets, sugarcane and note books  were distributed to all children and parishioners.  Thereafter a felicitation programme with Novem Jevann was held.  President John Veigas (President) presented flower bouquet to Guest Priest Fr. Cyril D’Souza, Saldanha,  Flora D’Souza (Secretary) presented bouquet to Parish Priest Fr. Nelson Saldanha and Sr. Madhuri was honoured by Walter D’Souza (Advisor).

 

The sponsors of programme were thanked by Treasurer and special thanks were given to Flora D’Souza, Juliana Mascarenhas, Monica Rodrigues, Ms. Jovila, Mr. George Furtado, Noel Veigas, Walter D’Souza, Leo D’Souza and others who contributed their best for the success of this celebration.

 

SSC toppers like Nikita, Valencia, Liza, Christon, Lavina, Aloysius, Stanislaus, Marshal, Anisha, Dennis, Franklin, Rosy and Klennet who scored more than 70% marks were honoured with a Gift Voucher and Certificate of Appreciation.  Liturgy Secretary Joseph D’Souza and Lawrence D’Souza were honoured for their selfless service in church for liturgy. John R. Mascarenhas compered the programme of felicitation, while Flora D’Souza compered for Entertainment programme in the evening.

 

A grand get together with novem jevann ( Dinner ) was organised by the association.  Small children like Michelle, Magnum, Magnus, Joywin, Flora, Mercin, Gracy and several others presented Dance, Jokes and variety Entertainment. The grand celebration of monti fest with 22nd Annual Day ended with "Lau da te", Hymn.
