Bangalore, 09 Sept 2013: The Electioneering Commission of India issued notices to media enterprises involved in 93 cases for publishing news in lieu of money during the recently held legislative assembly elections in Karnataka.

Out of these cases, more cases are registered on e-media than print media for violating code of conduct by publishing news in lieu of money.

It may be recalled that the Election Commission of India formed media watchdog Committee in each district to check the delivery of news on the first stage of assembly elections held on May 5, and also formed state level Committee to keep a close watch on media.
