Karkal, 06 Sep, 2013 :  It’s not essential for one to become engineer or doctor, while the need of the hour is to create effective leadership to lead the nation.  The teacher is the one who shows the way.  Teachers have greater responsibility in shaping the future of nation.  The patriotism has to be awakened among the students, higher emphasis should be laid upon moral education along with studies and the responsibility lies with the teacher to create future patriots, said Mangalore CCB police sub-inspector Dr H S Venkatesh Prasanna.

Dr Venkatesh was speaking during the taluk level Teacher’s Day celebration held at Manjunat Pai cultural auditorium, here on Thursday September 5.

Dr Venkatesh further said that the patriotism stories and great Indian cultural hierarchy are missing in the textbooks, he said.  He advised the teachers to be engaged in continuous study to keep abreast with the knowledge.  The talented engineers are involved in terrorism in the country, owing to lack of terrorism and degeneration of moral values.  In America, Japan and Israel, the students had to undergo compulsory military training. It’s because of this, one can find deep patriotism in them, said Dr Venkatesh.

MLA Sunil Kumar after inaugurating the programme, said that the teachers play key role in inculcating the ideals of Dr Radhakrishnan, based on love to dissuade destructive forces among the students, said MLA Sunil.

The state best teacher award recipient Laxmikant Bhat, district best teacher award recipient Kasturi Vasant, blood donor Devdas Patkar, the key sponsor Rocky D’Silva, taluk level teacher award recipients were felicitated on the occasion.

TP president Rashmi Shetty, ZP member Uday Shetty, Supreet Shetty, Manjunat Poojary, Savita S Kotian, Malini J Shetty, TP member Vikram Hegde, CEO Chennappa Moily, DIET officer Jahnavi, Tippeshappa, Babu Poojary, Laxmikant Bhat, Ravindra Hegde, Prakash Rao, Govind Adiga, Pratviraj, Ramanand Shetty and others were present on the dais.
