Mumbai: First ever Tulunadu Cultural Extravaganza Held in Dombivali

Mumbai, 31 Aug 2013: The traditional Tulunadu celebrations, Krishnastami celebrations that were staged in metro will ever remain fresh in the natives of undivided Dakshina Kannada settled in metro. It was organized by Tulukoota of central suburban Dombivali, conceptualized by Karnataka Rajyotsav Award recipient Tonse Vijay Kumar Shetty.
Around 30 Tuluvas have set up a Tulu heritage village working for 10 days in a large landholding in Dawdy village, about 2 kilometers from Dombivali railway station. They have laid two Kambala fields in 1 acre plot. The members of Tulukoota led by Hemant Shetty laid Kotichennaya Kambala field, Kantabare Boodubare Manjotti, Tulu Chavadu, Ankara Kala, Pantada Jal, Parbada dompa etc that resembled Bombaid Tulunadu programme staged by Kalajagattu, in Kamgar stadium, Parel, here on 2008.
Special puja were offered in Nagabana located in the land owned by local Balakrishna – Anita Bhandary couple here on Sunday August 25 morning.
The dignitaries Aikala Ganesh shetty, Divakar Shetty, Mitrapatna Narayan Bangera, Ravi Sanil, Rajasuta, Rajeev Bhandary and others offered puja to Kalpavraksha, palm tree, while a member of Tulukoota climbed the palm tree and plucked a tender coconut, poured the water onto the idol that signified the inaugural of the programme.
The motion was set for running in silted field by planting a sapling of palm on the edge of Kambala field.
The gathered community offered traditional puja to the decorated Tulsi Katte as per the native tradition to celebrate Krishnastami.
The special puja were offered along with devotional singing led by Mitrapatna Narayan Bangera and Ashok Shetty.
A mixture of til-poha-jaggery was shared among the gathering on the occasion.
Various Tulunadu traditions and customs were followed in the religious celebrations.
Tulukoota president Tonse Vijayakumar Shetty, office bearers Hemant Shetty, Arun Shetty (Kushala), Raghuveer Bhat, Taranat Amin, Satish Shetty, Arun Shetty, Suresh Bhat, Suresh Shetty, Nityanand Shetty, Nityanand Bhandary, Hemanand Devadiga, Ashok Shetty Mundkoor, Prasad Shetty, Bhujanga Salian, Uday J Shetty, and others were present during concluding ceremony that was celebrated in a unique way.
