Kundapur, 31 Aug 2013: A motorcyclist and pillion rider was miraculously survived with a few injuries, in a collision between a private bus plying from Mangalore to Hyderabad at nearby Kumbashi bus stand, near here on Friday August 30 evening.
The injured has been identified as forty-four-year-old Sudhakar Ganiga and his wife thirty-eight-year-old Sumana Ganiga, both residents of Vinayaka Nagar, Kumbashi, near here.
The private inter-state bus in a move to overtake a truck plied on one-way road and hit the two-wheeler from behind. Ganiga couple was trying to take a turn to go towards their home, when the bus hit their two-wheeler.
The couple was admitted in a private clinic at Koteshwar. The town police registered a case in this regard.
It’s significant that the road near Kumbashi bus stand has become the nightmare to motorists, owing to irregularities in ongoing four-lane conversion work by National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), wherein the motorists drive fast unaware of one-way traffic. The famous Vinayaka temple is located in the vicinity and always busy with people either crossing the road or waiting for bus. It has become the danger zone as several accidents frequently occur due to the negligence of contractor executing the highway works.
