Mangalore: Sacerdotal Diamond Jubilee of Msgr Aloysius D’Souza Celebrated at St Joseph’s Seminary

Mangalore, 31 Aug 2013 : Msgr Aloysius D’Souza of Mangalore Diocese celebrated the Diamond jubilee of his priesthood on 29th of August, 2013 at St Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu.

 

 

The jubilee celebration began with the solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by the jubilarian at the Seminary Oratory. The joy of the celebration was enhanced by the presence of Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore Diocese and Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo of Udupi Diocese.

 

Bishop Gerald Lobo broke the Word of God highlighting the true mission of a priest. Special prayers were offered for the good health of Msgr Aloysius D’Souza. The Eucharistic celebration was made rich by the melodious singing, prayerful liturgy and active participation of the community.

 

A felicitation programme followed the Eucharistic celebration at the Centenary Memorial Hall, presided over by Bishop Dr D’Souza. Fr Joseph Martis, the Rector of the Seminary welcomed the august gathering. Fr Henry Sequeira congratulated Msgr Aloysius D’Souza with his words of felicitation.

 

Bishop  Lobo while felicitating the jubilarian priest, thanked him for all the necessary help he had rendered towards him. Bishop  D’Souza recollected all the good times he had spent with Msgr, he lauded his selfless service towards the Diocese and to the Seminary in particular and felicitated him on behalf of the Seminary.

 

Msgr Aloysius after receiving the felicitation verbalised his sentiments of gratitude to the Almighty God, Bishops, Priests, Religious and laity who have been helping him to carry out his priestly ministry for the last sixty years.

 

Br Vijay J D’Souza compered the felicitation programme. This great event was witnessed by Priests from neighbourhood deaneries, Religious Sisters, family members of the jubilarian and the Seminarians. The celebration concluded with the fellowship meal.
