M’lore: Bajarang Dal Activists Set ablaze Car, Seriously Assault Hindu Jagaran Vedike Activist

Mangalore, 30 Aug 2013: A group 50 Bajrang Dal activists by brandishing swords ransacked a few shops that are located nearby Balakrishna Mandir, Kumpala, here and Moorukatte nearby, pelted soda bottled on houses, besides seriously assaulted a local activist of Hindu Jagaran Vedike, and set ablaze his car, being reported in Kumpala, near here on Thursday August 29 late night.
Background of the case
Over 50 local youth of Kumpala and activists of Bajarang Dal arrived at nearby Balakrishna Mandir and began damaging the cutouts and banners that were erected besides the road. Meanwhile, a local resident Praveen came out of the house, when he heard noise outside at about 12.30am on Friday August 30, whilst the group threatened him by brandishing the swords and continued to damage the cutouts. Praveen knew them because they were local youth and cautioned them not to disturb the peace in the neighbourhood. The group began to hurl soda bottles into the house of Praveen and damaged the window panes. Praveen’s son is also injured in the incident.
After a short while, the youth blocked the car of Hindu Jagaraj Vedike activist Pakku yane Prakash, who was returning home located nearby Moorukatte, here and hit him with soda bottles and sword. Prakash was critically injured, while the youth dumped the flex banners into his car and set fire. The critically injured Prakash began to flee towards the house of a certain Manohar, when the group chased and also assaulted Kumuda who tried to come to the rescue of Prakash. The group did not let Prakash flee, even after he ran towards the house of Yashoda Gatti where they assaulted him with soda bottles. Prakash who was badly bruised in his head, collapsed unconscious. The group further damaged the entrance door and ransacked the house. The group dispersed when the people in the neighbourhoood began to gather. Heavy security
Ullal police who rushed to the spot posted additional police force at the spot. ACP Jagdish arrived here within a few hours of the incident. The situation is like burning fire covered in ashes.
Drunken spree
The drunken youth were returning after the celebration of Mosarukudike Utsav at Tokkottu, here, were believed to have taken vengeance of earlier day. There has been instances of ego clashes between the local youth representing Hindu Jagaran Vedike and Bajarang Dal in over silly issues the past, while the police force failed effectively to curb the overtures this year, allege the locals.
Enmity flared up during Mosarukudike
Two youth belonging to Bajarang Dal reported hit children who donned tiger costume and were dancing in the tableau of Hindu Jagaran Vedike during Mosarukudike Utsav at Kumpala, here on Wednesday August 28 night. Meanwhile, the activists of Hindu Jagaran Vedike clashed with Bajrang Dal activists over the issue and it was cooled off.
In order to take vengeance over the earlier incident, a certain Kunta Ganesh, leader of Bajarang Dal instructed his associates Santu, Sandeep, Sasi, Prashant, Manish, Sankesh, Duggu, Dhanaraj, Ranga Ganesh, Lailu, Jayaraj and others to retaliate that resulted the drunken spree.
