M’lore: Eid Celebrated among Brethrens of other Community in City

Mangalore, 28 Aug 2013: In the past, every community would join in religious celebrations of each others in the society, whereas it’s indeed most distressing to urge the society to maintain peace a day before the religious celebration, said Shanti Prakashan manager Mohammed Kunhi.

Mohammed Kunhi was speaking during Eid celebration that was organized by district-level Eid celebration Committee of Lions Club, at Lions Seva Mandir, Mallikatte, here on Tuesday August 27.

 

‘Diversity is the rule of this world,’ says Holy Quran.  India forever will be a multi-cultured nation.  The religion is not the cause for any issue.  The lack of religiousness is the basis for all troubles. The members of Lions Club have greater influence in the society, because they celebrate festivals of different community in the society, said Mohammed Kunhi.  He also stressed the need to hold open discussions among the brethrens of different communities. 

 
Lions district governor K C Prabhu after inaugurating the programme, said that Lions Club International (LCI) hopes to promote peace in mankind by organizing festivities of different communities to foster brotherhood. 

Lions district chief co-ordinator K Prasad Rai, office bearers Shanteri Prabhu, M C Shetty, A Chandrahas Shetty, Abubakker Kukkady, Asha Chandramohan, Manjunat Murti, Kavita Shastry, Famida Ibrahim, Badruddin were present on the occasion.
Lions Club Eid celebration Committee co-ordinator Khalid Tannirbavi welcomed the gathering.  Mohideen Kunhi delivered the introductory address.  The Committee convener Maimuna Mohideen compered the programme.
