Bantwal, 24 Aug 2013: “Absolute faith in God and in Eternity, and a conviction that the power for good given to us in this world will be continued beyond it, were feelings which pervaded his whole life; the virtues of the gospel had ever been present to him (Louise Pasteur). Full of respect for the form of religion which had been that of his forefathers, he came simply to it and naturally for spiritual help in these last weeks of his life “ Vallery Radot (Grandson of Louise Pasteur) who created vaccination for Rabies.
Louise Pasteur
As we all know that the rabies vaccine was Louise Pasteur who had been working with a killed vaccine produced by desiccating the spinal cords of infected rabbits. The vaccine had been tested only on 11 dogs before its first human trial. This vaccine was first used on 9-year old Joseph Meister, on July 6, 1885, after the boy was badly mauled by a rabid dog and Louise Pasteur took risk, vaccinated the boy with anti-rabies and the boy survived. Today millions of lives had been saved due to this anti rabies vaccination by great scientist Louise Pasture. To bring awareness of this sickness among dogs and eventually to the human beings many awareness camps are being held all over India and thousands of lives have been saved every year.
To bring awareness on dangers of rabies among the parishioners, ICYM Bantwal unit too held an Anti-Rabies vaccination camp on Sunday 18th August 2013. The camps were held at ten different places of Bantwal parish.
