Mangalore, 18 Aug 2013: The renowned Konkani musician Lancy Moras staged his fourth musical Nite to the packed audience at Don Bosco hall here on Saturday August 17.

The event was presented by city based Moushmi Creations and sponsored chiefly by Eugene Lobo and family, Loretto, Dubai and Thomas Moraes and family, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).

The evening reverberated with delectable array of Konkani songs, some of them especially composed for the occasion. Six of the songs were from Lancy’s second hit music album ’Milan Mogachem’. A Kannada song too entertained the audience.

Most of the songs were based on the theme of love - love between young couples, family, mother’s love, love for Konkani language, Konkani community and the country. Lancy Moras opened the musical evening with a touching song that narrated his life in KSA for 30 years and his longing to come back home.

Monica Valder who flew in from Dubai and Thushara Kuruvitage from Sri Lanka who was performing in Mangalore for the first time, made the evening extra special, especially with their peppy baila till the last.

Besides Monica and Thushara, Lancy was accompanied by several other singers - Prajoth D’Sa from Kallianpur, child singer Alka Lewis from Brahmavar who impressed the audience with her talent, Joseph Mathias, Rony Crasta, fifteen-year-old Leonarda Moushmi, Sangeeta Balachandran and Vinay John Lewis. All of them were able to captivate the audience with their scintillating muskic.   Lancy and Hilda Moras too sang together on a song.

’Sarita’, ’Mummy’, ’Mogachi Raat Aamchi’, ’Avayi Mujhi Ya Thuji’, ’Sannyachi Raat, ’Aamcho Mog’, ’Ye Ye Katrina’ and many other songs were presented, each of them drawing a cheer and standing ovation from the audience. Adding a touch of patriotic spirit was the song ’Vande Mataram’ sung by a group.

The comedy trio Me-Mo-Ri added a generous dose of humour to the occasion with their delightful jokes. The singers were ably accompanied by Murlidhar Kamath on drums, Thushara on keyboard and other musicians on violin and guitar. Chris Electronics provided the sound and lighting.

During a brief stage programme Fr Melvyn D’Cunha, parish priest of Infant Mary’s parish -Bajjodyi, lauded Lancy Moras and said, ‘Lancy has put in lot of hard work and made this musical Nite happen, that too in Mangalore. It has been a great evening of entertainment for all of us,’ said Fr Melvyn.

‘Although Lancy spent 30 years in Saudi, he has not hidden his talent but has allowed it to grow and prosper. His love for Konkani never withered despite staying abroad,’ he added.

Lancy Moras honoured Monica Valdar and Thushara Kuruvitage on the occasion.

Gretta Rebello, former corporator, Konkani poet Melvyn Rodrigues, Moushmi Creations chairman Rony Crasta, and others were present.

Jude Noronha compered the event.
