Mangalore, 25 Jul 2013: Tulunada Vedike, Sanathana Seva Trust, Kadala Sene and SC/ST Committee, jointly staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Thursday July 25.
Addressing the protesters social activist M G Hegde said that the government has recently started issuing Unique Identity (UID) – Aadhaar cards for each citizen. The decision of issuing UID with all required information of every Indian citizen is a good initiative, but there has been unprecedented delay in issuing the Aadhaar cards.
The ration card, Aadhaar card, voter identity card, PAN card and any such inter-related cards should be simplified and issued by the local authorities under each state and union territories, under the surveillance of Card issuing authority of India. Simple methods should be adopted for change of address and other related information in this regard, said M G Hegde.
Single Window System, is the greater need to be adopted for issuing all kinds of cards. Every new born child to an Indian citizen must compulsorily get the Indian citizen card at the time of issuing the birth certificates, stressed M G Hegde.
M G Hegde further said that there should be one office to provide applications for all sorts of cards and easy procedures. If the present situations of applying for cards continue, it will create card mafias everywhere and people will suffer. If a sixty-year-old person is not able to understand about his identity card, what kind of system the government has brought? We have more than 25 various cards, if you go to the DC office for land related problems, they will ask for some cards, if you go to apply for ration card they will ask some other documents. Why is the government not able to simplify the ID card system, queried Hegde.
M G Hegde urged the government to take necessary steps to finalize a single card as the National Identity Card which should be accepted by the state / national offices and local authorities across the country.
Tulunada Vedike president Yogish Shetty Jeppu, Sanathana Seva Trust president Nithish C V, President Kadala Sene president Yashwanth Mendon Boloor and SC/ST Committee leader Praveen Veera Nagar were also present.

It s a sad state of affairs in India that before a new machine or car or something similar comes to the market the duplicate spare parts are readily available! When it comes documents like Id cards, Passport people are already ready for to forge it. Hyderabad, where I dwell, is full of it!! If one can spend enough, can buy a duplicate wife, duplicate mother or a son or daughter!!!

I fully endorse views of Hegde and urge all trusts, sene, vedike etc to organise mass protests against the system of multiple cards. The UIDAI should be the only National Identity Card, issued immediately upon birth of a citizen. Thereafter, the citizen should only earn and acquire cards like ATM, credit, club memberships, discount cards etc for commerce and lifestyles, besides driving and marriage licenses. The mafia already exists and thrives. The government employees and their masters are vested interests in the creation and existence of cards mafia, which is thriving throughout the nation.
