Udupi, 25 Jul 2013: The efforts of local police are hindered, owing to non-co-operation of recent rape victim, a medico of KMC College, Manipal in going ahead with prosecuting 3 accused who are already in their custody.
The chief cause for this is attributed to rape victim’s family hailing from Thiruvanantapuram, in Kerala discontinued her studies and returned to their native. The local police have done their best in nabbing the accused within a few days of the incident.
The police are unable to file the charge-sheet in the court on the accused, who are already in their custody since nearly a month, despite their eagerness to complete the procedure without raising doubt to shield the local accused.
Even though, the accused have confessed to the crime, there are a few solid proofs that got to be recorded in the charge-sheet. As per law, the rape victim had to identify the accused during the parade. The rape victim refused to take part in this parade. This is the legality that has restrained the local police in filing charge-sheet in the district court.
