Hassan : Bus plunges into a lake near Belur: 15 dead

Hassan, 23 July 2013: Eight persons drowned when a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation bus overturned and plunged into a lake at Belur in the district, police said.

 

 

Police officials involved in rescue efforts have recovered seven bodies while 35 people have been pulled out alive.

 

The bus was carrying about 50 passengers, police said, adding, all the eight bodies have been fished out of the Vishnusamudra lake, which is in Hassan district, almost 200 kms from Bangalore.

 

Rescue and relief operations are underway involving fire brigade, police and local fishermen, they said.
