Udupi: JCI – Kaup Brings Joy to Inmates of Manasa Rehab Centre, Pamboor with Daylong Celebrations

Udupi, 18 July 2013 : Nearly 200 students of Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre, Pamboor, near here were overjoyed, danced merrily and be their own self, sang joyfully, won prizes, tasted sweet dishes and had sumptuous food and enjoyed the company of guests in their midst.!
It was a memorable day for Manasa Centre chief trustee Remedia D’Souza, principal Sr Thelma, warden Vasanti who are revered by the students as their foster parents, the loving teachers who serve the inmates.
All this was possible because of Jaycees Club International (JCI) – Kaup president Rakesh Kunjoor who celebrated his birthday along with JCI members in the company of Manasa inmates, bringing joy to them in a day-long celebration on Tuesday July 16. JCI members also became children among the inmates by sharing food and goodies with them.
JCI national vice president Sadanand Navada inaugurated this simple programme at Manasa Centre, here on Tuesday morning.
JCI zonal former president Harischandra Amin, zonal vice president Ratnakar Indrali, Jaceeret president Soumya Rakesh, secretary Ramesh Naik and other office bearers were present at the occasion.
The entrepreneur Suresh Shetty expressed happiness over the programme.
Udupi zilla panchayat member Arun Kumar Shetty Padoor, JCI zonal past president Harischandra Amin, Kutyar gram panchayat president Praveen Kumar Gurme, JCI member Pramal Kumar distributed the prizes to the winners during the valedictory function held on Tuesday evening.
Speaking on the occasion, Remedia D’Souza lauded the humanitarian deed of JCI – Kaup and also support of other social welfare and voluntary organizations in running the rehabilitation Centre, in spite of a little support from state authorities. She also acknowledged the selfless and positive contributions of teachers and staff in sustaining the facility. The students of centre brought laurels to the district and the nation by winning gold medal in state, national and international Olympic meet, said Remedia D’Souza. She expressed her heart-felt gratitude to JCI – Kaup at the occasion.
