Mangalore, 17 Jul 2013: Kavoor police on Wednesday arrested a bus conductor on charges of repeatedly raping a minor girl in the city. The girl is pregnant now.
A complaint lodged by the survivor identified the accused as 30-year-old Faisal, from Shantinagar. He was produced before a court here. The girl has been sent for medical examination.
The complainant stated that Faisal forcibly entered the girl’s house in Jyothinagar on April 13 when her parents, both daily wage earners, were away in their native town, Bhadravati, and assaulted her. He assaulted her two more times when her parents were not at home.
The girl, from SC/ST community, stated that Faisal had threatened to kill her if she revealed this incident to anyone.
Police said the girl’s mother on Sunday noticed changes in her daughter and found out that she had been sexually assaulted.
Sources said the conductor worked on the bus in which she used to go to school. One day, he trailed her home and raped her.
Police have informed the Child Welfare Committee.
