Mangalore, 12 July, 2013 : The city auto rickshaw drivers staged a protest rally from Dr B R Ambedkar roundabout till Deputy Commissioner’s office here Friday July 12, to urge the district administration and Regional Transport Authority (RTA), in order not to allow auto rickshaws with rural permits operating in the city.
Dakshina Kannada (DK) auto rickshaw drivers Association president B Vishnumurti, the Association co-ordinating Committee president Ali Hassan, Karnataka Rakshana Vedike president Jayaprakash Shetty, HMS affiliated auto rickshaw drivers Association president Ashok Kumar Shetty Bolar, CITU leader Krishnan, senior auto rickshaw drive Ronald Pinto, and others were present at the occasion.

Oh! In London taxi s need separate London driving permission. Suburb taxi s have restrictions to ply over London streets! That may be because outsiders are not well versed with congested road conditions. Mangalore is no different, it is over congested with millimeter distance between vehicles moving at snails pace! It may be unfair for outside autos picking passengers inside the city! They should allow outside auto ferrying passengers into the city and go back empty! if meters installed strictly this problem can be solved. Bootlegger define territory...why not registered autos claim their territory!! |
