Mangalore: MLA J R Lobo Reviews the Damaged Houses owing to Torrential Rains in City

Mangalore, 8 July 2013: Due to the impact of the heavy and continuous rainfall experienced in the district, few cases of house damages have been reported in various parts of city.
Mangalore south MLA J R Lobo visited such damaged houses in different parts of the city accompanied by the corporator of respective wards, party leaders and others.
A house owned by Vasanthi Nayak, a widow, who lives in this house with her 2 children in Kandevu in Shiva Nagara, Alape, Padil, here has been partially damaged due to the impact of the landslides on Sunday July 7 night.
The locals face the imminent danger from unguarded railway crossing in Kandevu - Kanagudde. Nearly 100 houses have no proper road, in order to reach the main road; they need to cross the track that is always parked near the Padil Railway Junction.
MLA J R Lobo spoke to the Station Master, who urged Lobo to discuss this issue with Dasan, the area manager of Managlore Central. MLA Lobo assured the locals to solve the issue at the earliest.
He later paid visit to the localities along Kulshekar – Kannagudde Road via Surya Nagara, Saripalla, Kalai, Kandevu, Nooji, Umikhan Estate that lies in deplored state. The road comes under the jurisdiction of Southern Railway (SR) who neither undertakes repairs nor allows municipal body to restore the road for smoother motoring. It lies in deplored state since several years, which is a vital link to over 200 families.
MLA Lobo also visited a house that has been completely damaged due to the heavy rain in Suterpete, Valencia, here. The house is said to be belonged to Umavathi, Savitha and Ganesh. Umavathi suffered minor injuries, due to the impact.
Regarding all the railway issues in the city, MLA Lobo said that he would form a team and soon visit the SR division in Palakkad, Kerala and discuss the issue with the higher railway officials, at the earliest.
The corporators Prakash Salian and Appilatha, Congress leaders Dennis D’Silva, T K Sudhir, Mohan Mendon, Krithin Kumar, revenue inspectors, village accountant, officials and others were present on the occasion.
