Mangalore: SAC organizes Green Campus Drive in Association with 92.7 BIG FM

Mangalore, 30 Jun 2013: St Aloysius College (SAC) as a part of Vanamahotsava celebration organized Green Campus Drive, in association with the forest department and 92.7 BIG FM. The event was organized by the NSS unit of the Institution on Friday June 28.
The city based social activist Jeeth Milan Roche presided the function here on Friday morning.
St Aloysius College – head of department of botany Professor M L Sureshnath, and team Big FM were present.
Speaking on the occasion, Roche highlighted the role of youth in conserving the environment. He himself had started planting trees in the city and wants to turn the city into a much greener place.
Professor Somnath stressed on the change in the ambience and the effect it has upon mankind. He further said,’Mother Nature need not be helped by us, but we need to do things like this to help ourselves and save mankind.’
Fr Walter Andrade, the financer of the college was also present.
Later there was a sapling planting session, when all the NSS students and the chief guests along with team 92.7 BIG FM planted some saplings that were given to the college by the forest department.
NSS members sang an environmental song and took an oath to protect the environment. Afsana compered the programme.
