London: Stan Nite – A Historical Event for Konkani in London

London, 25 June, 2013 : Stan Mendonca, a gifted singer along with his team successfully performed ‘Konkani Musical Nite’ at Copeland School, Wembley London June 23, 2013. It is a first ever Konkani Musical Nite in London. More than 300 people from all over United Kingdom enjoyed this Historical Konkani Musical Extravaganza. 

United Kingdom Member of Parliament for Leicester East, Rt.Hon Keith Vaz was present for the Event. Editor in- Chief for Daijiworld.com Mr. Walter D’Souza Nandaleke along with prominent names in Konkani Mr. Dayan D’Souza Mukamar -Dubai Mr. Joseph Mathias-UAE, Well Know Konkani Singer Mr. Rony D’Cunha from Kuwait were resided over the function.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Event started with a devotional prayer led by Stan Mendonca

Mr. Joseph Sequiera from Warrington brilliantly compeered the event, in the opening note Mr.Sequiera said ‘This is a great moment for Konkani people in London, made possible by the support of Konkani people in the United Kingdom and people around the world. This is Stan Mendonca’s 7th Konakni Musical Nite and Stan has 3 musical Konakni CD’s under his name.

Mr. Joseph Mathias, Mr. Walter D’Souza Nandaleke, Mr. Dayan D’Souza Mukamar and Mr. Rony D’Cunha traditionally inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp along with main sponsors of the event. The main sponsors for the event were Mrs.& Mr. Ronald Colaco and Family Dubai, Mrs. & Mr. Glen Dsouza and Family (M/S Gopal’s of Soho) UK, Mrs. & Mr. Joseph Mathias and Family (M/S Merit Freight Systems co.Ltd.UAE) Mrs. & Mr. Melvyn Rodrigues and Family, London, Mrs. & Mr. Alwyn Dantis and Family, Nottingham and Mrs. & Mr. Richard Lobo and Family London, however Mr. Ronald Colaco and family was unable to attend due to some pre occupied events.

This is followed by first song of the nite by Mr. Stan Mendonca, sang the title song of his third audit CD ‘Ashawadi’ which was well supported by the audience by a huge applause.

 

The Numbers like Attyaachaar, ‘Moladhik Dirvem’, Mog Mullyar Kitem’ ‘Yego Pisoyla’ ‘Nil Nil Gaganar’ and ‘Vishaal darya’ captured the hearts and minds of the audience.

Mr. Rony D’Cunha and Mrs. Jasmine D’Cunha from Kuwait, Mr. Joseph Mathias from UAE, Mrs. Ansuya Gomes from Bristol and Mrs. Ancita D’Souza from Cardiff entertained the gathering by their melodies voices.

The audience thoroughly entertained and danced to the song  ‘Diana Bai’ sung by Mr. Rony D’Cunha along with his wife Mrs. Jasmine D’Cunha and their Son Jeswin D’cunha

New and upcoming talents Mrs. Blossom Mathias, Ms. Melanie Rodrigues from London, Mrs. Charlotte Barboza from Manchester and Ms.Sonal Mendonca from Sunderland more than succeeded in performing beyond the expectation of the audience.

The Dance performed by Mr. Alwyn Dantis, Mrs Carol Dantis, Mr. Deepak Alvares , Mr. Jeevan Menezes Mrs. Anitha D’souza  and Ms. Cynthia Lobo from Nottingham kept the sprit and enthusiasm of the gathering.

The joy and momentum of the gathering was further enhanced by the hilarious play and jokes by Mr.Pius Rasquinha, Mr.Stany Sequeira, Mr. Jeevan Menezes, Mr.John Fernandes, Mr. Deepak Alvares, Mr. Vincent D’Souza Mrs. Anitha D’souza, Mr.Vincent D’souza and  Mrs. Flossy Fernandes from Nottingham, Mr. Vinod Barboza and Mr. Ronald Lobo from Manchester. 

Manchester based well known music group Rainbow Raagas provided the thrilling music for the event.

It was ensured that the well wishers and song sponsors were honoured for their support. 

  
Rt.Hon Keith Vaz was felicitated by Stan Mendonca, in reply Rt.Hon Keith Vaz said it is great event and was happy to attend, he urge the Konkani people to more active and conduct more event like this in the United Kingdom. Rt.Hon Keith Vaz also spoke about his Diabetes awareness program and requested the active participation. 

Event of this magnitude was made possible by the support of people.  Mr. Stan Mendonca along with his wife Mrs. Jyothi Mendonca felicitated the Guests, sponsors and the co-sponsors of the event. The felicitation event was presided over by Mr. Joseph Mathias, Mr. Walter D’Souza Nandaleke, Mr. Dayan D’Souza Mukamar and Mr. Rony D’Cunha. Addressing to the gathering Mr. Walter D’souza recognised the efforts put by the people on this event and emphasised the point to stay United as Konkani Community. Mr. D’Cunha thanked all the support and wished Stan a great success in the future events. Mr. Mathias, who was chairing the stage recalled his good olden days with Stan Mendonca as classmates and felicitated Stan and his wife Mrs. Jyothi Mendonca for their great work in setting this event.

The vote of thanks was given by Mr. Stany Mendonca. He expressed his gratitude and thanked everyone who directly and indirectly supported to make the event a grand success. Mr Brazil Gomes from Bristol prepared the slide shows and captured the Day’s event in photos; Mr. Alwyn Dantis was in charge for the stage coordination, Mrs. Janet D’Souza London, Ms. Rita Williams London and Mr. Ronald Lobo Manchester took charge of Stage Settings.

The closing hours of the event was dominated by some outstanding singing and performances by Stan and Team created a magical moments in the auditorium.

The event gets registered, as a first ever Konkani Musical Nite in London, when Stan and Team concluded the event with the final song ‘Dev Borem Korum’.
