Mangalore: Muslim Central Committee Felicitates MLA Mohideen Bawa & Minister Ramanath Rai

Mangalore, 24 June, 2013 :  Dakshina Kannada (DK) district in coastal Karnataka where people of different religions, castes, and sects live in harmony. There are several people who are affected with socio-economic issues whose grievances had to be addressed to bring about equality in the society.  Greater significance to social harmony is the need of the hour, said the DK district-in-charge minister and state minister for forest and environment B Ramanath Rai.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The minister B Ramanath Rai was speaking during the felicitation programme organized by the Muslim Central Committee ® Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts, at Town Hall here on Sunday June 23.

He also said, ‘God has given us birth in different communities, religions and sects but no one has been born by submitting an application requesting to get birth in a particular community, caste, or religion. Basically I was born in a place where people gave more importance to religious harmony,’ said minister Ramanath.

‘Congress party is the only secular party which has given social justice to all communities, religions, castes. Hence, Congress is my religion. Congress is the only ideological party which has shown its concept of secular politics by providing opportunity to people of all communities, said minister Ramanath. Without naming any party, Rai said, ‘Today, there is one party which has failed to provide any opportunity in politics to minorities or the backward class in places like Hassan, Tumkur, and Mandya but it calls itself a secular party,’ said minister Ramanath.

Slamming moral policing, he said, ‘Moral policing in the district will be completely stopped. If it takes place anywhere then the police officer of that particular station will be held directly responsible for the incident. I spoke to the chief minister and told him that while his on first visit to Dakshina Kannada he should lay the foundation stone for the Haj Ghar,’ said minister Ramanath.

Muslim Central Committee ® president K S Mohammed Masood, in his welcome address, urged the police force not to cause hindrance to community men while on their way to mosques to offer prayers especially during the holy Ramadan month.  He also urged the district administration to provide good quality rice at the state-run ration shops. He urged the state authorities to appoint a special investigation team to probe the double murder case in Panjimogaru and also to allocate a plot for burial because the community lack a decent burial ground for their deceased brethrens.  He urged the city police to curb prostitution in Old Kent Road where decent people cannot walk, urged Masood.

Muslim Central Committee ® vice president Ibrahim Kodijal, said, ‘SDPI has tried to split the vote of the Muslim community but Muslims have united and voted for Congress. It is time for the Muslims to unite and hence, the youth of SDPI should be involved in social work but not meddle in politics. We cannot find a single black mark on the personality of Ramanath Rai. Prabhakar Bhat mints money but Rai who really serves the people,’ said Ibrahim

Mangalore north MLA Moideen Bava and the minister Ramanath Rai were felicitated during the programme.

Dakshina Kannada district Kazi Twaka Ahmed Musliar offered was also present on the occasion.

However, other Congress MLAs and ministers of undivided Dakshina Kannada district were absent during the programme owing to their earlier commitments.
