Hassan: Mortal Remains of Yoganand, Soldier serving in Siachen Glacier Laid to Rest with State Honou

Hassan, 12 Jun 2013: The Deputy Commissioner K P Mohan Raj accorded state honour, when the mortal remains of a soldier, native of district, who was passed away while on duty at Siachen glacier that lies on Indian border with Pakistan, here on Tuesday June 11 morning.
Yoganand is the deceased soldier, a native of Agrahara in Channarayapattana of Hassan district. He was serving as Hawaldar with 161 field regiment. He passed away, while on duty at 6.30am on Sunday June 9 due to cardiac arrest. ‘Although, he was airlifted to army hospital, Yoganand breathed his last en route,’ said the army officers.
Yoganand was serving in Indian armed forces since the past 17 years. He is survived by his wife, two children and extended family.
A ceremonious procession of mortal remains of Yoganand was held in the city streets beginning from district headquarter and taken to his native village, where the last rites were held with full state honour on Tuesday afternoon.
