Hassan, 6 Jun 2013: The farmers of Narve gram panchayat picketed the office of local co-operative society here on Wednesday June 5 for selling substandard chemical fertilizer.
The peasants have bought 300 sacks of MOP potash – chemical fertilizer from the local co-operative society in their Narve village in order to manure their crops. However, it’s owing to the substandard quality of chemical fertilizer the entire crop was perished in a few days.
The farmers alleged that vested interests are involved in this shoddy business as all their efforts to address their grievances with farming officials and society chairman were futile, because they remain absent in most of the times, alleged the farmers.
