Hassan,31 May 2013: The local MLA H S Prakash urged the people to refurbish the old temples instead of building new.
MLA Prakash was speaking after inaugurating the newly-refurbished Rameshwar temple located in the compound of SDM Ayurveda School, near Tanniruhall, here on Thursday May 30.
He also advised to identify several dilapidated temples across Karnataka to restore them of their former glory. ‘One has to be service-oriented. A patient feels comfortable when greeted by a health assistant in a hospital. The serving of free food to thousands of devotees who visit every day at Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala in Beltangady taluk of Dakshina Kannada district is attributed to nothing but divinity, said MLA Prakash.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr D Veerendra Heggade said that a total of 27 temples in the district are refurbished. The district has classic temples. A few temples are in dilapidated condition. Amongst 170 temples in the state, 153 are refurbished. The refurbishment of 17 temples remained. The state administration has allotted Rs 1 crore for this purpose. Meanwhile, if the state administration allots just another 20 percent of that the task will be accomplished at the earliest, said Dr Veerendra.
‘Rameshwar temple has been refurbished with the divine graces. The temples play key role in the life of an individual. If one believes God presence, then He surrounds him in his mind, body and soul,’ said Dr Veerendra.
Dr Veerendra further said that ayurvedic treatment is offered in the district to create trust. Meanwhile, we serve the mankind without the bias of caste, creed and faith. The voting is a precious right of citizen who had to exercise their franchisee freely without coercion, added Dr Veerendra.
The Deputy Commissioner K P Mohanraj said that 28 temples in the district are refurbished already for posterity. It’s been a great deed by contributing a larger part of total cost with a little contribution from state authorities, lauded DC Mohanraj.
The zilla panchayat president D G Ambika Ramanna, Dharmottana Trust deputy chairman D Surendra Kumar, Harshendra Kumar, Arya Vaishya Mandali chairman Govindaraj Shetty, SDM Ayurveda College principal Prasanna N Rao, S R S Jewellers proprietor Rajgopal Shetty, former councilors Chennaveerappa and Chandra Gowda, All India Jain Federation chairman Mahaveer Bansal and others were present at the occasion.
