Mangalore: North East Students Team Meets MLA J R Lobo to address Grievances

Mangalore, 27 May 2013: The city based members of North East Students Team (NEST) at the leadership of Sparsha Youth Counseling Centre, met the newly-elected MLA J R Lobo at the latter’s residence, here on Sunday May 26, to address their grievances.
The students of 7 states of north India are studying in different schools and colleges in the city who get no benefits from Karnataka state government, although they are entitled for benefits from both union and state governments in their respective states. The students seek similar benefits that are availed by SC/ST students in Karnataka as they hail from hilly regions of tribal background.
The students addressed their grievances related to hostel facilities that are expensive in the city and sought the government to set up hostels and charge nominal fees. They also sought protection from moral policing in the city.
MLA Lobo assured the delegation of NEST and Sparsha that he will do his honest efforts in addressing their different grievances within his limits.
NEST president Adarsh, vice president Dorjee Khandu Jebisow, Sparsha Youth Counseling Centre director Denis D’Silva, executive Committee member Gretta D’Mello, NEST leaders Doodle Basumatary, Rwmuri Bajlary, Jwngsima Daimari, Lakshmi Athokpam, Sarmita Chanu, Jyoti, Romita Chanu, Walmitchi, corporators Mahabala Marla and Naveen D’Souza were present at the occasion.
