Hassan: United Forum of Dalit Organizations Protest seeking Ministerial Berth to Motamma

Hassan, 24 May 2013: The united forum of Dalit organizations staged silent rally urging CM Siddaramaiah to give ministerial berth to local Congress veteran leader Motamma, here on Thursday May 23.
The protesters formed human-chain from Hemavati statue, passing through Kasturba Road and concluded at N R Roundabout, here causing hindrance to traffic for a short while.
The protesters began a stir in front of the office District Congress Committee (DCC).
The protesters alleged that Motamma is one among top leaders of Dalits in Karnataka who worked for the welfare of Dalits and women for the past 4 decades. She served as women and child welfare minister and set an example for forming Stree Shakti self-help-groups for the first time in the nation. She served as opposition party leader in legislative council and was involved in strengthening the party on grass-root level, alleged Motamma.
The protesters presented a memorandum to DCC vice president Narayan Gowda to grant ministerial berth to Motamma in the cabinet of CM Siddaramaiah.
The united forum of Dalit organizations president H K Sandesh, B N Pramod, H M Prakash, Nirvanayya, Hettoor Nagaraj, Vijay Kumar, Narayandas, Gopal, Ambuga Mallesh, Marie Joseph and hundreds of members were present at the occasion.
