Dubai: Vishwakarma Seva Samithi Concluded Annual Sports Event At Zabeel Park

Dubai, 21 May 2013 : Sri Vishwakarma Seva Samithi (VKSS) community concluded their much awaited ‘Annual Sports Meet 2013’ at Zabeel Park, Dubai on 10th May 2013 with lots of enthusiasm, enjoyment having ample number of sports for different category.

The event got inaugurated at 8.30 am keeping the cultural and traditional practice alive with lighting the lamp followed by a Sri Vigneshwara prayer in the presence of VKSS core committee & senior members. President Prashanth Acharya welcomed the Members and wished everybody to participate in the sports activities with real spirit and joy since it is a community get together event.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Cricket match with 6 teams from different emirates, started at 9.00am after morning breakfast and it was nice to see unbelievable enthusiasm within the community members from those different emirates. There were many sports for kids with two age groups (below 8 and 8+) followed by women’s throw ball. It was a remarkable team performance by all the three team members. Final match between Dubai Team Vs Sharjah Team was a nerve catching for the audience.  Soon after these events was Community traditional lunch served at 1.15pm for all. There were more than 200 members participating, including children.

Post lunch session continued with cricket match with the semifinals between the qualified teams. On the other side sports for men and women were held under the various sections like sack race, relay race, 3-leg race, tug-of war, hopping race etc. All the members participated in the sports and enjoyed every moment without considering the age limit. Final men’s cricket match was followed by evening snacks break; the final match between Al –Quoz Friends Vs JVC Jasco really brought the IPL look to the audience. Pravin Acharya of Al Quoz Friends bagged both Man of the Match and Series for his outstanding performances. Sujeeth also got a special prize for his all-round performances in Cricket.  Pavithra Acharya and Malathi Ragu Acharya were awarded for their best performance in Throw ball.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Sports presentation and Valedictory ceremony began at 5.30 pm and the whole day event was more of a big family get together rather than sports event. The weather favored throughout the day with pleasant and cool breeze even at noon. 

All the three achievers – Winner, 1st Runner ups, and 2nd Runner ups in each sports category were felicitated with Gold, Silver & Bronze medals and certificates of achievement respectively;  specially every child below 8-years  were honored for their active participation in sports as encouragement. Winner Cup & Runner cup, Man of the match, Man of series was the other best team & individual recognitions along with surprise Cash prize for the cricket winning team.

The presentation dais was graced by the guest of honor – B R Badiger, Editor of Kalikavani, a community magazine from Bangalore-India, VKSS founder President, Shantharam Achar, Ex-President Rajendra Pejavar, Ex-Vice President, Shodhan Achar, Ex-Treasurer, Sadashiva Achar and other core committee members.  Present working committee President Prashanth Acharya, Vice President, Pratibha Shodhan and other key members were present and coordinated the presentation part.

Prizes were felicitated to the winner by the various and prominent community personalities. Many other community delegates also witnessed the event and wished for the best and appreciated effort made to unite the community people with common united personal approach.

The program was concluded at 6:00pm with vote of thanks by the VKSS General Secretary Upendra Kundove; all the members of sports committee lead by Surendra Acharya, Sudarshan Acharya were appreciated for commitment, co-ordination and support. It was a well-organized event and successful as all members of organizing committee rendered their committed services voluntarily to make this event memorable one for all in this calendar year.

Vishwakarma Seva Samithi’s next upcoming program will be Blood Donation Campaign on 25th July @ Sheikha Latifa Hospital (former Al Wasl Hospital) 7.30 pm. Thursday.
