Kundapur: Footwear Godown in Vaishali Complex Gutted in Fire

Kundapur, 14 May 2013: A godown of footwear located on second floor of Vaishali Complex, near Shastri roundabout, here was fully gutted in a major fire at the wee hours of Monday May 13.
The godown of footwear is owned by a certain Mohammed Ghouse who has a shop on the mezzanine floor, had stocked the monsoon footwear was gutted in fire causing losses worth a few lac of rupees.
Two fire tenders from city, one each from Udupi and Bhatkal arrived at the spot and took nearly 2 to 3 hours to extinguish the fire that gutted the entire stock of footwear in the godown.
The fire threatened to spread to nearby mobile, readymade garments, wholesale plastic shops, but the fire fighters positioned themselves in spraying water jets thereby curbing the fire from causing further damage.
Although it was suspected electricity short-circuit was responsible for accidental fire, but that was ruled out as the electricity supply was zapped already.
The exact cause of fire is yet to be ascertained.
