Udupi, 25 Apr 2013: Kaup legislative assembly independent candidate – state Raita Sangh vice president B Vijay Kumar Hegde began campaign for the upcoming assembly elections here on Wednesday April 24.
Earlier, Vijay Kumar Hegde visited Kadgeshwari temple along with his supporters and took an oath in front of temple deity that he had not taken any bribe from Udupi Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) and he would not give up the struggle against UPCL with the lure of bribe.
Vijay Kumar Hegde openly challenged the Kaup BJP, Congress and JDS candidates to take similar oath if they are innocent.
The leaders of struggle who opposed setting up of UPCL by Nagarjuna – LANCO joint venture are accused of bribe. Meanwhile, when a few leaders abruptly backed-off from the protest, it was clear that they joined in the struggle only to extract money from them. He was also accused of monetary gain in this regard, said Vijay Kumar Hegde.
To prove that he had not accepted any money from UPCL, Vijay Kumar Hegde took an oath in front of temple deity. In order to abide by the poll conduct he refused to mention the names of beneficiaries, but he would reveal the names of those who have falsely accused him, said Hegde.
His manifesto lays emphasis on creating job opportunities to local youth by eco-friendly industries, such as solar, wind and other natural resources, said Hegde.
