Mangalore: Two Carmelite Deacons were Ordained Priests

Mangalore, 20 Apr 2013: Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte, Mangalore rejoiced and wore a festive look as two Carmelite Deacons were raised to the Sacred Order of Priesthood on Thursday 18th April 2013.
Very Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the Bishop of Mangalore presided over the solemn Eucharistic celebration that began at 3.30 pm. In his homily he dwelt on the various aspects of priesthood and encouraged the families to build up faith in their young children so that they inherit a desire to serve the Lord. He also congratulated the Carmelite Order for already having many priests serving all around the globe. There were priests from Canada, South Africa, Tanzania, Italy and other parts of the country who had come for the Ordinations.
Rev. Fr. Archibald Gonsalves, Provincial Superior of the Carmelites, Rev. Fr. Pius James D’Souza OCD, Episcopal Vicar for the Religious, Mangalore Diocese, Rev. Fr. Henry Sequeira, Judicial Vicar of the Diocese of Mangalore and other 72 priests concelebrated at the ceremony. Fr. Deepak Tauro OCD compeered the liturgy. A felicitation programme followed the consecration.
The newly ordained priests are:
Rev. Fr. Prakash D’Cunha hails from Our Lady of Pompei Church, Gurpur. He is the second child of late John Isidore and Irene D’Cunha.
Rev. Fr. Joyson Saldanha was born in 1983 in the family of Marcel and Coses Saldanha. He hails from Most Holy Redeemer Church, Belthangady.
Rev. Fr. Richard Menezes, is the first Carmelite Priest from Belur, Chikmagalur Diocese was ordained on 16th April, 2013 by the Bishop of Chikmagalur. He is the eldest son of John and Severine Menezes.
