Udupi: Last Rites of Muslim Brethren Held besides NH 66, owing to Opposition of Communal Outfits

Udupi, 13 Apr 2013: The last rite of Muslim brethren was held besides National Highway 66 at Koppalangady, near Kaup here recently.
The last rites used to be held in the burial ground of Kadim Jamia masjid compound, Koppalangady, at the limits of Mallar gram panchayat since a few years, while it’s owing to ongoing construction of new mosque, its being held inside the compound.
Meanwhile, a few communal outfits supported by local MLA Lalaji Mendon opposed the ongoing construction and urged the district administration to discontinue the works. The district administration enforced interim orders in this regard.
The wife of Arshad, native of Mallar village had passed away on Sunday April 7. It’s owing to the interim orders, the last rites were held besides National Highway 66 here.
Udupi district Muslim Federation condemned the communal outfits’ opposition to ongoing construction works for building a new masjid. It has urged the district administration, judiciary to intervene and take legal actions on communal outfits that has been opposing the ongoing construction works. It has done injustice to the religious right of Muslim community.
